2026 Lexus ES Hybrid Best Luxury SUV

2026 Lexus ES Hybrid Overview

The Lexus ES has a luxurious interior and a remarkably quiet, comfortable ride. The 2026 Lexus ES Hybrid has a compliant suspension and plenty of standard equipment. This SUV has three powertrains, including a light four-cylinder, a smooth V-6, and an efficient hybrid. If that sounds good, you can stop there.

Lexus does its best to make everything more luxurious with its F Sport trim. But these are half-steps in the busyness, and they sacrifice some of the ES’s inherent comfort along the way. The ES is Lexus’s best-selling sedan, though for a reason, it’s a relative bargain compared to its top German competitors, albeit with that non-performer caveat.

The less-fancy version of this car is known as the Toyota Camry. It’s available with two hybrid powertrains and the same features for about $10k less.

What’s New for 2026?

New for 2026 Lexus ES Hybrid is a Black Line Special Edition package. Offered on the ES-350 F Sport Handling, it adds some black exterior doodads like mirror caps, lip spoiler, rocker trim spears, and F Sport puddle lamps. Only 1,000 will be built, and the package has an MSRP of $1,500, but requires another $2,465 for mandatory options.

2025 Lexus ES Hybrid Pricing

The 2026 Lexus ES Hybrid starts at around $43,315 in base trim and goes up to around $53,605  for the fully loaded Ultra Luxury Package.

Our new comparison tool provides a comprehensive, side-by-side comparison of up to five of your favorite vehicles. While we always consider whether to recommend the sportiest version of a car or the higher-end mid-grade trim, in this case, we think upgrading to the ES350 with Ultra-Luxury equipment is consistent with the sedan’s purpose and core capabilities as a luxury sedan.

The ultra-luxury design adds special 18-inch wheels, quilted semi-aniline leather upholstery, a hands-free power trunk lid, a power rear sunshade, and a wood-and-leather steering wheel.

This requires adding the Navigation package, which upgrades the infotainment display to a larger 12.30-inch setup and adds in-dash navigation, an electrochromic rearview mirror, a DVD player, voice recognition, and the automaker’s Enform Destination Assist service.

Engine and Performance

The Lexus ES offers buyers a choice of three powertrains. A 203-hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine powers the ES250 and comes standard with all-wheel drive. All ES350 trims feature a 3.5-liter V-6 that produces 302 horsepower and is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels.

With all ES300h trims, inspiration comes from a four-cylinder hybrid powertrain that delivers a net output of 215 horsepower. A continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) and front-wheel drive are standard. This Lexus sedan offers composed handling and a forgiving ride quality that many luxury-car buyers love.

For those looking for more responsive handling, the F Sport trim adds larger wheels and suspension tuning that is more performance-oriented, but hardly impressive. Even with these upgrades, the ES is less athletic than competing models like the BMW 5-Series.

2026 Lexus ES Hybrid 0-60-MPH Times

On our test track, the V-6 ES350 hit 60 mph from a standstill in 6.1 seconds. The all-wheel-drive ES250 and hybrid ES300h were quicker to 60 mph in 8.1 and 8.3 seconds, respectively. The ES300h F Sport we tested hit 60 mph in 7.9 seconds, so there’s an advantage here, but only just.

Fuel Economy

According to the EPA, the Lexus ES350’s mileage is more than 22/32 mpg city/highway. As you’d expect, the ES300h Hybrid is even more frugal, rated at 43/44 mpg. The EPA’s fuel economy estimates for the ES250 are 25 mpg city and 34 mpg highway.

Driving the 2026 Lexus ES Hybrid, we achieved 39 mpg on our 75-mile real-world highway fuel-economy test. On the same 200-mile test route, the ES300h delivered 45 mpg, while the ES250 achieved 33 mpg. For more information on the ES’s fuel economy, visit the EPA’s website.

2026 Lexus ES Hybrid Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

With a stylish, asymmetrical dash and high-quality materials, the ES’s cabin creates a comfortable environment for passengers. Both rows offer ample legroom for long legs, and the seats provide comfortable support. Notably, the cabin remains incredibly quiet even when driving the ES at highway speeds.

Both gas-only and hybrid models offer 17.0 cubic feet of cargo space in the trunk, which gives the ES more cargo space than rivals like the Volvo S90 (14.0 cubic feet) and Acura TLX (14.0 cubic feet). Unfortunately, the ES’s rear seats don’t fold down. This makes it difficult for this Lexus to carry large loads.

IT & CONNECTIVITY

Luxury car buyers are looking for cars with the latest and greatest tech features, and the Lexus ES sedan doesn’t disappoint. It comes with a touchscreen infotainment system with a standard 8.0-inch central display and implements both CarPlay and Android Auto.

A larger 12.3-inch touchscreen is optionally onboard, providing the ability to provide hassle-free device integration. A 10-speaker sound system and SiriusXM satellite radio come with all models. The list of standard tech amenities includes Amazon Alexa compatibility, Bluetooth phone and music streaming, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and Scout GPS Link navigation.

2026 Lexus ES Hybrid Safety and Driver-Assistance Features

All ES models come standard with Lexus’ Safety System+ 2.5, which includes driver-assist features such as pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and blind-spot monitoring. For more information on the ES’s crash-test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites. Key safety features include:

  • Standard automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection
  • Standard lane-departure warning and lane-keep assist
  • Standard adaptive cruise control

  • Hybrid component warranty for eight years or up to 100,000 miles.

The sedan sits on newly designed 18-inch alloy wheels, with optional 19-inch wheels available for those who prefer a sportier stance. Its coupe-like roofline flows gracefully to the rear, where sculpted LED taillights create a modern and dynamic look.

This year, Lexus has introduced new color options, including stunning Celestial Silver and Deep Garnet Red, both of which highlight the car’s elegant lines from every angle. Overall, the 2026 ES Hybrid exudes sophistication, confidence, and timeless style.

The new Digital Key feature allows you to unlock and start the vehicle using your smartphone, adding modern convenience to luxury driving.

Spacious and Practical Design

Despite its emphasis on luxury, the 2026 Lexus ES Hybrid remains impressively practical. The sedan offers 16.7 cubic feet of trunk space, making it one of the roomiest options in its class. The rear seats don’t fold down, but a pass-through opening allows for the transport of long items.
