2026 Genesis G80 Overview

The 2026 G80 is a key part of the Genesis product line, and the overall efficiency, clear quality, and fine details of the current version are a testament to the brand’s progress. With last year’s update, the price has increased slightly, so the 2026 Genesis G80 no longer appears as a cheap option compared to rivals like the Audi A6 and BMW 5 Series.

Instead, it’s on par with its qualities, which include value, attractive styling, and a luxurious interior. Genesis builds on the traditional luxury interpretation of the car—with hints of Bentley—which makes the G80 easy to relate to.

The simple lineup is split into two levels, one powered by a 300-hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine and the other by a 375-hp twin-turbo V-6. BMW and Mercedes’ lineups stretch further into sports-sedan territory than the G80, but as a mainstream luxury sedan, the Genesis achieves its goal.

What’s new for 2026?

Since it was updated just last year, the G80 is expected to continue through 2026 without any significant changes.

2026 Genesis G80 Prices

The 2026 Genesis G80 starts at $59,945 and goes up to $81,495, depending on trim and options.

2.5T – $59,945

2.5T Advanced – $65,535

2.5T Sport Prestige – $71,445

3.5T Sport Prestige – $79,845

3.5T Prestige Black $81,495

The most expensive of the various trim levels is the 2.5 Advanced, which adds several high-end features that easily justify the price increase over the standard car. The Advanced trim comes standard with 19-inch wheels, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, three-zone automatic climate control, a power trunk lid, and an upgraded Bang & Olufsen stereo system.

Engine and Performance

The entry-level 2026 Genesis G80 comes standard with a turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-four engine that makes 300 horsepower. For faster acceleration, buyers will want to opt for the more powerful Sport trim, which comes with a 375-horsepower twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 engine. Both engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

The G80 offers a comfortable ride, easy steering, and responsive brakes, but it doesn’t feel as athletic as some rivals. The Sport and Sport Prestige models add more athleticism with a firmer, electronically controlled suspension – at the cost of a slight loss of ride quality.

2026 Genesis G80 0–60-MPH Time

When we tested the 2025 G80, the V-6 model hit 60 mph in 5.1 seconds. We didn’t test the facelifted four-cylinder model, but the previous 2.5T model hit 60 mph in 5.7 seconds.

Fuel Economy

The EPA has not yet released fuel economy figures for the 2026 Genesis G80, but the 2025 2.5T model achieved fuel economy ratings of 20 mpg city and 29 mpg highway. The V-6 model achieved lower estimates of 16 mpg city and 24 mpg highway.

On our 75-mpg fuel-economy test route, the 2025 G80 3.5T achieved 31 mpg, significantly exceeding its rating. The four-cylinder G80 2.5T achieved a 29 mpg result in previous tests. For more information on the G80’s fuel economy, visit the EPA’s website.

Cargo Space and Practicality

The G80 offers 13.1 cubic feet of trunk space, perfect for luggage, groceries, or shopping bags. Select trims feature a smart trunk proximity sensor and power release, making it easy to open the trunk when your hands are full.

This thoughtful design ensures the G80 blends luxury with practicality, catering to both daily commutes and weekend getaways.

2026 Genesis G80 Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

The G80’s interior is consistent with the model’s positioning as a luxury car. The design is elegant, and the cabin is decorated with soft-touch surfaces and rich-looking materials. However, a rotary shift knob is never as easy as automakers make it out to be, especially when it can be confused with the nearby rotary controller for the infotainment system.

Overall, the G80’s interior looks great. The sedan has desirable features like a large OLED display for gauges and information, ambient interior lighting, a head-up display, and heated and ventilated front and rear seats. The Genesis has more headroom up front and legroom in the back, though less spacious, enough for two adults to travel comfortably.

IT & CONNECTIVITY

A large, rectangular 27.0-inch OLTD display juts out from the top of the dashboard and acts as the hub for all of the G80’s digital systems. The left side of the panel houses a reconfigurable gauge display, while the right side houses a touch-sensitive section for the infotainment interface. The display can be operated via a circular controller on the center console as well as buttons on the steering wheel and voice commands.

The logic of the infotainment system is one of the best we’ve used, with the rotary controller a welcome addition, and it makes pairing a cellphone a snap. A powerful Lexicon audio system with distinct sound modes is also part of the infotainment setup.

The G80 sedan has a large collection of driver-assist technologies and a great feature called Smart Park. Also available on select Hyundai models, this system allows the driver to maneuver the car in and out of tight parking spaces by standing outside the vehicle and using a smartphone app.

Step into sophistication with the Genesis G80, a premium sedan that beautifully blends luxury, advanced technology, and dynamic performance. Designed to redefine elegance and innovation, the 2026 G80 delivers a modern driving experience that stands out in the luxury sedan segment. The 2026 Genesis G80 brings multiple updates to design, features, and packaging, giving luxury sedan buyers more choice and sophistication than ever before.

New Exterior Colors and Trim Options

The 2026 Genesis G80 embodies the brand’s signature “athletic elegance” design philosophy, which includes a clean roofline, bold proportions, and a confident stance. The front fascia differs by trim level – Sport models feature a dynamic two-tiered crest grille in dark gloss chrome, while Luxury variants come with a more sophisticated vertical grille pattern.

Jewel-like two-line LED headlights ensure excellent visibility, while the sculpted profile is accentuated by elegant 19- or 20-inch G-Matrix alloy wheels. At the rear, the design is equally sophisticated, with a three-dimensional bumper adorned with a V-shaped chrome trim and a hidden exhaust.

Overall, the 2026 Genesis G80 exterior strikes the perfect balance between sleek sophistication and assertive sportiness. The stunning Saras Blue exterior color is now available on the Sport Prestige model for both 2.5T and 3.5T engine options. Additionally, the Tasmin Blue shade can now be paired with the elegant Maculo Gray matte finish.

However, Tasmin Blue will no longer be available for the 2026 model year. In terms of packaging changes, the 3.5T Sport Advanced All-Wheel Drive trim has been discontinued for 2026. It has been replaced by the all-new Prestige Black All-Wheel Drive trim, which is designed to provide an all-black look similar to the stylish GV80 SUV. If you’re looking for a sleek, dark-themed Genesis G80 sedan, this is the one for you.

New Features and Technology

Genesis has also added some practical and tech-based updates for 2026: A manual rear sunshade is now available on the 2.5T Advanced AWD, Sport Prestige AWD, and Prestige Black trims. Genesis Digital Key 2 is now standard on the 2.5T Advanced AWD and Prestige Black trims, providing keyless convenience via your smartphone.

A front wireless device charger is also newly available for the 2.5T Advanced AWD and Prestige Black models. These updates enhance comfort, convenience, and connectivity for both driver and passenger.

Pricing and Price Analysis

The official pricing for the 2026 Genesis G80 has been revealed, though buyers shouldn’t forget to add a $1,495 destination charge. The price is up about $1,300 from the 2025 lineup to just over $2,100.

While the 2026 Genesis G80 continues to offer great value, some may find the price a bit steep—especially when compared to its main rivals, the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Both of these models offer incredible refinement, and the new E-Class in particular feels almost as luxurious as the S-Class thanks to its Airmatic suspension, double-pane side glass, and exceptional ride quality.

Engine Choice: 2.5T vs. 3.5T

The four-cylinder 2.5T engine is perfectly fine for everyday driving, but the V6-powered 3.5T really completes the 2026 Genesis G80 experience. It delivers more refined and refined performance that elevates the car into true luxury territory. However, the 3.5T variant can reach prices approaching $80,000, which may still seem excessive for a brand that has earned its luxury status.

Still, a fully loaded 2.5T Sport Prestige AWD is also significantly more affordable than its six-cylinder counterpart – making it an attractive option for value-conscious buyers. If you’re looking for the best four-cylinder in this class, BMW’s 2.0L turbo engine still sets the standard.

The 2026 Genesis G80 perfectly captures the essence of modern luxury – elegant design, advanced technology, and sophisticated performance.
