The 2025 Audi A5 combines dynamic design and technology.
Audi’s name change will mark the end of the current A5 and the evolution of the A4, its most advanced model to date. We all know the Audi A4 from the past, and we’re not saying this because of its recent generational change, but because the German company has decided to change its name.
Yes, it’s now called the 2025 Audi A5, which means the model that was previously called that is no longer there. The brand with the four rings wants to unify the two products, but let’s see how the new A5 turns out.
We’re looking at a model that has increased in length (60 mm) and width (13 mm) compared to the previous A4. Equipped with athletic lines and a new design language for the interior, new electronic architecture (the central elements are five high-performance HPC computers), a range of electrified combustion engines, and changes to the chassis to provide an improved driving experience.
All this is without forgetting its Avant station wagon body style and sporty S5 versions, which say goodbye to the diesel engine forever, in the full range of which are now available to order, and all prices have been revealed.

General features of 2025 Audi A5
A clean, distinctive design, a long wheelbase and a low body characterise the image of the new generation. On the sides there is a flat, single-frame grille with a three-dimensional honeycomb construction, accompanied by elegant daytime running lights (with up to eight different light combinations) and a large hood with rectangular slits.
The handle and wheel in the flash trim have been increased by just a few inches to 20 inches, and a glass backrest that extends in an arc towards the rear flows like a coupe and instantly turns into a spoiler, creating a continuous strip of light that makes the second-generation interactive OLED taillights. As the previous 2025 Audi A5 Sportback hinted, the tailgate now opens through the north window.
Inside, we find a redesigned 2025 Audi A5 interior inspired by the Audi Q6 e-tron. It includes an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.5-inch multimedia system display. It makes a panoramic MMI with a new interface and the ability to download third-party apps.
Unfortunately, there are no longer physical buttons on the steering wheel, climate control, and centre console. However, the car now has a digital assistant (integrated with AI) capable of handling more than 800 functions. The 2025 Audi A5 also has wireless phone charging, 15 watts of power and active cooling.
In addition to the name change, Audi is also expanding the standard equipment of the A5, which is equipped with the following assistance systems: rear parking assist with distance indicator, reversing camera, lane departure warning, agility assistant, parking assistance system plus, adaptive cruise control, rear rotation and turn assistant, as well as attention and fatigue detection. It also includes a factory-equipped navigation system, three-zone climate control, heated front seats, and LED headlights.
What Engines are available in the Audi A5?
With the ECO label, the 2025 Audi A5 offers a 2.0 TDI diesel engine with 204 hp and 400 Nm of torque, which includes 48v MHEV Plus technology to reduce fuel consumption and emissions. This system is distinguished by its powerful 24-hp and 230 Nm electric motor, which allows the engine to be decoupled in low-load situations, reducing fuel consumption without reducing performance.
This engine has both front-wheel drive and the quattro Ultra system. This intelligent all-wheel drive system distributes torque between the wheels predictively and as needed, improving efficiency and performance in different driving situations.
On the other hand, there are two non-hybridised petrol engines. The Audi A5 entry-level version offers a 2.0 TFSI with 150 hp and 270 Nm of torque, while the most potent version of the same engine reaches 204 hp and 320 Nm of torque.
The latter has a variable turbine geometry (VTG), which improves engine response at low revs, resulting in faster and smoother power delivery. Both engines are equipped with a 7-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission. Both versions offer front-wheel drive.
Audi A5 Test Drive:
Thanks to its mild hybrid MHEV technology, the Audi A5 achieves competitive fuel consumption figures for its segment. The 150-horsepower 2.0 TFSI gasoline engine has a combined fuel consumption of around 6.2 l/100 km, while the more powerful 204-horsepower version offers slightly higher fuel consumption, around 6.5 l/100 km, and both emit 126 g/km of CO2.
The 204-HP 2.0 TDI diesel is the most efficient option, with a combined fuel consumption of 4.8 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of 126 g/km. These figures help place the A5 in a good position against rivals such as the BMW 3 Series or the Mercedes C-Class, especially the diesel variant, which optimises efficiency with its hybrid and twin-turbo system to reduce emissions.
Driving Aids for the 2025 Audi A5
As standard, all Audi A5 trim levels include a basic but advanced assistance system, such as Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), which automatically adjusts acceleration and braking to maintain speed and distance from the vehicle in front.
It also includes Lane Assist, which corrects the vehicle’s trajectory if it detects that it is deviating from its lane without signalling, and the emergency braking system (Audi Pre Sense City), which detects pedestrians, cyclists, and other vehicles, applying the brakes in the event of an imminent collision.
Regarding optional packages, Audi offers various improvements and additional features depending on the equipment level. In higher trim levels, such as S Line or Advanced, the Tour Assist package can be added. This package includes Traffic Jam Assist, which allows the car to take partial control of the accelerator, brakes, and steering in slow-moving traffic.
For those who want maximum driving assistance, the City Assist package includes Cross Traffic Assist, which warns of rear-end crossings when reversing, and Turn Assist, which prevents collisions when turning into oncoming traffic at intersections. In addition, the Head-Up Display projects relevant information onto the windshield so the driver can keep their eyes on the road.

New Exterior Design
The completely redesigned Audi A5 2025 family has a clear, powerful stance to dramatically improve the proportions of the sedan’s sculptural form, longer (2.6 inches), wider (0.5 inches), and taller (1.6 inches) than the A4. The long wheelbase (2.8 inches), larger wheels, and low-profile cabin give it a dynamic silhouette expected of a sportback.
The A5’s profile extends to the rear like a clear circle, flowing seamlessly into the shallow rear window and ending almost coupe-like in the visually small trunk lid, which is surrounded by an attractive lip spoiler. The new, seamlessly integrated rear decklid opens with the rear window, providing the ultimate symbiosis of pristine design and additional functionality. Offering 22.6 cubic feet of trunk space, the storage space can be increased to 36.6 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down.
The front bumper is dominated by a much broader and flatter single-frame grille, with its three-dimensional honeycomb structure and aerodynamically effective air curtains at its base. With the sleek, precise headlights, the front of the car has an attractive and defined expressive shape. The hood is flush with the bumper, giving the Audi A5 2025 model line a sleek front end. Its side air intakes and pronounced three-dimensional air curtains distinguish the S model.
The front and rear fender flares are reminiscent of the Audi Ur-Quattro (a core element of Audi’s design DNA), and the door handles are flush with the bodywork for a more aerodynamic design. The rear of the car combines emotional design with intelligent technology, with the offset depth of the light strip giving the new A5 an additional presence. Other design highlights include the blacked-out diffuser attached to the bumper and the premium, functional rectangular exhaust outlets.
Comfort and technology: New 2025 Audi A5 interior
The 2025 Audi A5 interior design of the new Audi A5 2025 is based on four features. Human-centric design consistently meets the needs of its users. The digital landscape dominates the view of the driver and front passenger in the form of the Audi MMI display. The material-driven design creates the prerequisites for a generous feeling of space and a high comfort level.
The new operating concept of greater vehicle interaction is made possible by the new E³ 1.2 digital electronic architecture, which aims to seamlessly integrate the A5 into the owners’ digital ecosystem through a personal connected experience.
The key to this is the digital stage of the Audi MMI widescreen display, which uses OLED technology for an elegantly curved design. The digital stage, which includes the 11.9-inch Audi Virtual Cockpit and the 14.5-inch MMI central touchscreen, can be supplemented by the optional 10.9-inch MMI passenger display, which blends seamlessly into the dashboard design.
Audi A5 2025 features an updated, configurable head-up display (HUD). For the first time, drivers can adjust vehicle and infotainment functions directly via the HUD. Thanks to the maximum use of installation space and adaptive display technology, the visible image area is 85 per cent larger than in previous HUD applications, which provides greater clarity.
In addition, the HUD can now be configured to display additional content, such as speed, assistance systems, navigation instructions and multimedia data, as desired. Redesigned steering wheel controls allow users to scroll through and select lists without taking their eyes off the road. Calls can also be received and made via the HUD. The new Audi A5 models feature the Audi Assistant, an adaptive voice control system based on artificial intelligence that understands natural language.
In addition, the A5 offers two optional Bang & Olufsen premium sound systems with 3D sound, which deliver up to 810 watts of power and 20 speakers, four of which are integrated into the headrests of the optional front sport seats. The headrest speakers help create a more balanced sound field between the front and rear seats and improve privacy when making phone calls.
Our opinion on the Audi A5?
What we can say so far about the Audi A5 2025 is that its sporty exterior design, interior quality, and advanced technology have caught everyone’s attention. However, the trunk volume and price may be a limitation for some buyers, as some competitors with similar features offer slightly cheaper options with larger cargo capacity.
2025 Audi A5 Specs Digital lighting takes the standard up a notch
With the new 2025 Audi A5, Audi continues to advance lighting design, technology, and customisation. Eight customisable digital LED daytime running light signatures are available in the A5 Prestige, S5 Premium Plus, and Prestige trim levels, and the new, second-generation customisable digital OLED taillights are available in the A5 and S5 Prestige models. Audi demonstrates its continued evolution in lighting applications.
With around 60 segments per digital OLED panel and six digital OLED panels at the rear of the Prestige trim level, the backlight palette comprises more than 360 segments that provide interesting three-dimensional shapes and a new level of lighting design. This technology enables dynamic lighting effects when the car is locked or unlocked, as well as a new level of customisation and the aesthetics of motion in the lighting.
More dynamic chassis and more precise steering
The pure driving experience with Audi DNA will undoubtedly impress with its dynamic and precise handling. The steering of the new A5, which always uses a progressive ratio, has become considerably more accurate than in the previous generation A4 and A5 models.
This reduces the elasticity between the steering and front wheels, giving the driver more precise road feedback. The new Audi A5 2025 has a dynamically adjustable steel suspension and all-season run-flat tires with 18-inch wheels as standard, and all-season run-flat tires with 19-inch wheels are available as an option.
The new S5 is equipped with the S Sport suspension and summer tires with 19-inch wheels as standard, with two different 20-inch wheel designs with summer tires also available as an option. In addition, all-season run-flat tires can be fitted to both 19- and 20-inch wheels for comfortable driving all year round.
The Audi S5 also features an adaptive S Sport suspension with electronic damper control, which offers more flexibility between three driving modes (Comfort, Dynamic and Balanced) via Audi Drive Select than its predecessors. The Dynamic mode is now noticeably firmer and more performance-oriented.
Sleek Exterior with Advanced Lighting
At the rear, the A5 is adorned with sleek LED taillights, connected by a thin light strip that gives the vehicle a modern and distinctive look. Dynamic turn signals further enhance its high-tech appeal. The sporty rear bumper features a bold diffuser and dual exhaust tips, emphasising its athletic stance.
The front fascia is dominated by a newly redesigned, wider single-frame grille, which gives the 2025 A5 a more pronounced and aggressive appearance. Sharp matrix LED headlights complement this striking look and ensure safer, more efficient illumination.
Aerodynamic Design and Sporty Touches
The 2025 Audi A5 showcases sharp body lines and an aerodynamic profile that boosts style and performance. A striking character line runs through the taillights, while the flared front fenders add a sense of sportiness and grace.
Powertrain and Transmission
The new Audi A5 2025 will launch in the United States with a single, powerful engine option-a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine producing 268 horsepower, supported by a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. The car does not offer a manual transmission; instead, it uses a dual-clutch automatic gearbox similar to that found in its V6-powered sibling, ensuring smooth and responsive gear changes.
High-Tech Interior and Infotainment
The Audi A5 2025 boasts an intuitive digital instrument cluster featuring a digital speedometer, tachometer, and fuel level indicators. It includes high-end infotainment options, audio and navigation systems, and smart digital integrations.
While some interior panel names appear to be placeholders Audi emphasises its use of premium materials, delivering top-notch fit and finish across the entire cabin.
Comfort and Convenience
Standard features in the new A5 are expected to include:
- Power-adjustable front seats
- Premium leather upholstery
- Panoramic sunroof
- Ambient interior lighting
- Three-zone automatic climate control
These features continue Audi’s legacy of blending comfort with performance in every model.
Cargo Space and Practicality
One notable improvement in the 2025 Audi A5 is its increased cargo capacity. The new model offers 26 cubic feet of cargo space, a significant upgrade from the 22 cubic feet available in the current 2025 Audi A5 Sportback.
Conclusion
The 2025 Audi A5 is a bold expression of style, performance and innovation. Available with various wheel designs from 18 to 20 inches, the A5 is equipped with high-performance tires as standard. Buyers can choose between all-season tires or special performance options for different driving conditions.
